Shutting down your gadgets at takeoff and landing not such a bad idea

The FAA is revisiting its effective ban on electric gadgets, which might allow passengers to use their tablets and e-readers even during take-off and landing.

But in a world where bleeping and blinking gizmos occupy our every waking moment, are these brief interruptions really such a bad thing?
