Why Microsoft has made developers horrified about coding for Windows 8

Microsoft's Windows 8 demonstration at the D9 conference looked pretty, but carried a chilling message for developers: if they wanted to write for the new operating system, they'd have to use HTML5 and JavaScript.

This might seem a crazy move from a company that prides itself on backwards compatibility, but the warning signs have been there for quite some time now.
