Nightlight Computing and Mobile Hardware Hacking

Purpose built gadgets like the Slingbox have been eclipsed by generic low cost platforms that are open.

Examples of these low power "open systems" are Android, Netbooks, Sheevaplug and Aurduino.

Hacked examples include the Apple TV running the open media center software XBMC and boxee, or jail broken iPads. O

nce these devices are on a network, the concept of low wattage "nightlight swarm computing" is a reality.
